How does this relate to the problem Spain suffered when all that Inca gold flooded into Spain in the 16th and 17th centuries. Isn't there a risk trillions of US dollars all coming home to roost might cause similar problems?


Good question. It was a huge period of riches for Spain & it's empire (and inflation). The great thing about the US$ is you don't get those pesky British pirates stealing it all - as a $ never leaves it's own shores. So maybe better than gold!
